Also known simply as an ignition switch, it controls the electrical power to the starter and accessory circuits. When this switch begins to fail, you may experience intermittent no-start conditions, the key not turning smoothly, or the engine stalling while driving. It was originally installed in a BMW X5 or X6 with a range of gasoline and diesel engine options.
