This used OEM BMW air suspension compressor / pump, part number 6859714, was removed from a donor X5 or X6. It replaces earlier units 6799419, 6789938, and others in the 677/678/679 series. The compressor supplies pressurized air to the air springs; when it fails, the suspension may sag or fail to raise, and the dash often displays a chassis warning. Fitted to a range of 3.0L six-cylinder gas and diesel engines as well as V8 (naturally aspirated, turbocharged, and hybrid) variants.
