Used BMW ECU DME / Cas4 Theft Locking Module / Lock Cylinder W/ Key, genuine OEM part number 7638781. This used OEM module integrates the engine control unit (DME) with the CAS4 theft-locking system and includes the lock cylinder and key. It also replaces numerous earlier part numbers including 8617383, 8616314, 8610278, and others in the 86xxxxx series. Designed for BMW models with the N55 3.0L 2979cc I6 gasoline turbo engine, this unit manages engine operation and anti-theft security. A common failure mode is a no-start condition caused by a lost sync between DME and CAS. Programming is required—the module must be coded to the vehicle’s VIN by a qualified shop or dealer.
