This is a used OEM BMW transmission oil cooler line, part number 7572712, also superseding 4554714 and 7526333. It's the outlet pipe for the transmission cooling circuit. On the N54 and N55 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six found in the 135i, 335i, and 335is, this line carries hot transmission fluid from the cooler back to the gearbox. A cracked or leaking line can cause low fluid level, leading to slipping or harsh shifts.
