This used OEM BMW rear axle differential (part 8686219, 3.38 ratio) is also known as the rear diff. It supersedes numbers 33108643134, 33108643135, and 33108686220. Removed from a BMW X3 or X4 with a 2.0L or 3.0L turbocharged engine (including mild hybrid variants). The differential transfers torque to the rear wheels; a worn unit often produces a whining or howling noise during acceleration or deceleration.
