BMW brake vacuum pump, OEM part number 6857405 – a used genuine unit removed from a donor vehicle. This pump also supersedes 6789279. On the i3 and i3s, it supplies the vacuum needed for the brake booster, critical when the range-extender engine or the electric motor alone doesn't produce manifold vacuum. A failing pump can result in a hard brake pedal or reduced power assist.
