This bearing cap, also referred to as a cam bearing cap, secures the camshaft in the cylinder head on the 4.2L 4172cc V8 gas engine found in several Audi and Volkswagen models. Worn or damaged caps can allow camshaft play, leading to abnormal valvetrain noise or timing misalignment.
