This genuine used tensioner maintains proper timing chain slack on 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engines, including the B48 and N20 families found in 228i, 328i, and X3 models. When a chain tensioner fails, you may hear a rattling noise from the front of the engine on startup, as the chain loses its tension and can slap against guides.
