This used BMW coolant tank (OEM 8616418) is a genuine factory reservoir bottle. Also replaces part numbers 7639464 and 7823544. Designed for 2.0L diesel and gas turbocharged engines as well as 3.0L gas turbo and naturally aspirated variants found in the X3 and X4. The reservoir stores and supplies coolant to the engine; over time plastic can become brittle and develop cracks or leaks, leading to coolant loss and potential overheating.
