This genuine BMW door brake / check rod (OEM 7400138, also replaces 7288176) is a used OEM component pulled from a donor vehicle. Installed on the front right side of an i3 or i3s, it limits the door’s opening arc and holds it in position. When worn, the door may swing too wide or fail to stay open at the detents. It fits models with either the 0.6L range-extender or the full battery-electric powertrain.
