This used BMW ECU DME / Cas3 Theft Locking Module / Lock Cylinder with Key, OEM 7629130, also replaces numbers 8618483, 7645283, 7629609, and others in the 76xxxxx series. It serves as the engine control unit combined with the ignition lock and theft-deterrent module for N54 and N63-powered models. Symptoms of a failing DME include no-start or intermittent stalling, while a faulty CAS3 can prevent the key from being recognized. Programming to the vehicle is required on installation—have a qualified shop or dealer handle it.
