This is a used OEM BMW ECU DME / CAS4 Theft Locking Module / Lock Cylinder W/ Key, OEM part number 8665254. It also replaces numbers 8689181, 8656329, 8636967, 7540739, 7540738, 8624488, and 8617520. This module controls engine start authorization and theft-deterrent locking for the ignition and steering column. A common failure symptom is the vehicle failing to recognize the key or not starting. This part must be coded to your vehicle's VIN on install by a qualified shop or dealer.
