This is a used BMW engine oil level sensor, OEM part number 7598860. It also replaces part numbers 7638341, 8608779, and 7636294. The sensor monitors real-time oil level and temperature in the sump, feeding data to the instrument cluster and DME. A common failure symptom is an inaccurate or intermittent oil level warning on the dash, or a "no reading" message. This part fits multiple BMW models with 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder engines, including the N20 and N55 families.
