This assembly serves the 4.0L turbocharged V8, combining the oil pan (which stores and supplies oil to the engine) with an integrated windage tray that separates the crankcase from the oil sump to reduce foaming and oil starvation under high RPM. A failing pan often develops cracks at the mounting ears or around the drain plug, causing oil drips and potential pressure loss.
