It is specific to the 4.0L 3993CC V8 turbocharged engine found in the A8, RS7, S6, S7, and S8. When this separator fails, it can cause rough idle, excessive oil consumption, or smoke from the exhaust as it fails to properly separate oil from crankcase gases.
