This rear right shield is a genuine heat barrier that mounts inside the fender liner to protect surrounding components from exhaust heat. Also called a fender liner cover, it's critical for preventing thermal damage behind the wheel well on Boxster and Cayman models with 2.7L to 3.4L flat-six engines. A missing or cracked heat shield can lead to melted plastic or degraded nearby wiring over time.
