This used OEM BMW hatch/trunk buffer stop (part 7453842) cushions the rear hatch during closing. Also called a trunk buffer or buffer stop, it prevents metal-on-metal contact between the hatch and the body. Over time, the rubber can compress or crack, leading to rattling or misalignment when closing.
