Used BMW hood strut / shock absorber, OEM part number 7309119. This genuine gas-charged strut supports and dampens the hood as it opens, preventing it from dropping unexpectedly. It fits both the left and right mounting positions on the listed BMW models. A failing hood strut will no longer hold the hood up on its own, requiring manual propping or a prop rod for safety.
