This is a used genuine BMW Intake Cam / Camshaft Gear Adjuster Unit, OEM part number 7598001, also replacing 7567497. This component controls the variable valve timing on the intake camshaft, adjusting camshaft position for optimal engine performance across the RPM range. It fits the left or right bank on BMW V8 and V12 engines from the N63 and N74 families, including the 4.4L and 6.0L turbocharged units. A common failure symptom is a rattling noise from the timing chain area or a check engine light for camshaft position correlation.
