This is a used OEM BMW lower steering shaft joint, part number 6778136, also superseding 6859833. This joint connects the steering column to the rack, transmitting rotational input from the wheel. A worn joint can cause excessive play, clunking, or vibration in the steering wheel. This unit is specific to BMW models with the N63 4.4L V8, N55 3.0L I6, or N20 2.0L turbocharged engines. It must be installed by a qualified shop.
