The booster uses vacuum or hydraulic pressure to multiply the force from your foot on the brake pedal, making it easier to stop the vehicle. It was engineered for gas engines in the 1.4L, 2.0L, and 3.6L displacements. A failing booster often causes a hard brake pedal or longer stopping distances.
