A used OEM BMW power steering tube/pipe/hose (part 6781897, also supersedes 6850666) carries hydraulic fluid between the pump and rack in 4.4L V8 twin-turbo and 4.8L V8 applications. Leaks at the crimped fittings or from abrasion cause low fluid levels, whining noise, and eventual loss of power assist—a direct symptom of this line failing. Genuine construction resists the high pressures and heat of the N63/S63-era drivetrains.
