Volkswagen secondary air pump OEM 05E959253 is a used genuine part that injects fresh air into the exhaust during cold starts to help the catalytic converter reach operating temperature faster. When this pump fails, you may see a check engine light and sluggish performance on startup. It's also called a smog pump. Fits 1.4L, 1.5L, and 2.0L turbocharged gas engines from Jetta and Taos—the EA211 and EA888 families. A common symptom is a loud whirring noise followed by a fault code for insufficient secondary air flow.
