It injects air into the exhaust system during cold starts to reduce emissions; when it fails, you may hear a whining or grinding noise and see the check engine light. Fits Porsche Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera with various 3.0L and 3.6L V6 gasoline, diesel, and hybrid engines.
