This genuine BMW trunk hatch strut (OEM 4887651) is a used left-side shock for the X5. It also replaces several earlier numbers including 7332695, 7294587, 7286115, and 7172059. This gas strut supports the tailgate and keeps it raised for loading. When they fail, the hatch won’t stay up on its own.
