This genuine BMW trunk hatch strut / shock absorber (OEM 7166758) is a used part taken from a clean donor vehicle. Also known as a trunk hatch lift support, it provides the force needed to hold the rear hatch open smoothly. When a strut weakens, the hatch may drop or fail to stay up. This unit fits the driver (left) and passenger (right) sides of the rear hatch on specific 1 Series and 1 Series M models with 3.0L turbocharged or naturally aspirated inline-six engines (2979cc/2996cc).
